Films of HMS Endurance in Antarctica
HMS Endurance is the Royal Navy’s Ice Patrol Ship. Her function is to support British interests in Antarctic waters, especially around the Antarctic Peninsula, assist the British Antarctic Survey in carrying out its scientific research programme and carry out hydrographic surveying duties on behalf of the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office.

HMS Endurance is 91m long and has a beam of 17.9m. Her red hull colour is for easy recognition in the ice, most especially from the air. She is powered by twin diesel engines and has a top speed of 15 knots. Her bow enables her to cut through 0.9m thick ice at 3 knots and she is fitted with some of the most sophisticated navigation and manoeuvring aids in the world.
We present here some footage of HMS Endurance on patrol and icebreaking in Antarctica.

2. HMS Endurance passing a gigantic iceberg - Remember: HMS Endurance is 91m long!
