Seasons
Because of Antarctica's position in relation to the sun, there is 24 hours of darkness in June (the long Antarctic winter) and 24 hours of daylight in December (during the short Antarctic summer). This is the opposite of the Arctic, which has 24 hours of darkness in December (Arctic winter) and 24 hours of daylight in June (Arctic summer).
