The Seasons |
|
If you could see the planet Earth in space, you would see it spinning. The Earth takes 24 hours to spin around its axis - an imaginary line between the North and South poles. Day and night happen because as the Earth spins on its axis, different parts of its surface face the Sun. It is day when a place is on the side of the Earth facing the Sun and it is night when the place is on the side of the Earth facing away from the Sun.
