Madeiras climate is sub-tropical which means the island enjoys warm, frost-free winters with average maximum daily temperatures of around 18 ° C and dry, sunny weather in the summer, when average temperatures are around 24° C. Outside high summer, rain is possible at any time, though it rarely sets in for long.
Porto Santo has its own climate. Most days are very dry and sunny as rainfall is generally very low, though it can be breezy thanks to cooling Atlantic winds. Low cloud, know as capacete, sometimes comes the mountains at around lunchtime, though this usually clears by mid-afternoon.
