As HMS Endurance continues to make her way down to Antarctica, she makes a brief stop in Montevideo, Uruguay. The small country of Uruguay can be found on the eastern coast of the continent of South America (see map below). Uruguay is bordered by Brazil in the northeast, the South Atlantic Ocean to the southeast and by the River Plate (Rio de la Plata) to the South. The Republic of Uruguay is the second smallest country on the continent (after Surinam) covering 187 000 sq. km. Time wise it is only 3 hours behind the United Kingdom.
