Generally, Uruguay’s topography can be seen as an extension of that of Southern Brazil. The country’s landscape mainly consists of long ranges of low hills, large areas of grasslands and fertile coastal lowland. In fact, 77% of the country’s land is pasture, with only 2-3% forest. This little forest area is mainly on the banks of rivers and streams. Uruguay’s coastline is 500 km of white sandy beach, with sand dunes, which is popular with tourists.
