Crofton Hammond Junior School - Reckless's Home
Proud to be joining the Ship’s Company of HMS Endurance on their 2005/6 deployment, is Reckless the Bear the mascot of Crofton Hammond Junior School in Hampshire.

Reckless The Bear

Crofton Hammond Junior School is a two-class entry Junior school attended by 244 boys and girls aged 7 to 11. The school lies near the centre of the large residential village of Stubbington situated in southern Hampshire close to the sea. The area has strong links with the Royal Navy and several Naval establishments are close by.

The school was opened in 1974 as a semi open-plan building and although teaching styles have changed since that time and the classrooms have become more enclosed the school has preserved an open and exciting approach to its curriculum. There are extensive school grounds with a large field and a conservation area. Academically very successful, the school is also very proud of its high level of sporting and musical achievement.

Reckless the Bear has been a fundamental part of school life for the past six years. There is a regular display of his travels which forms part the school's geography curriculum. He is taken on holiday by members of the school community, children and adults, and records his travels through photographs and reminiscences on his return. He is a particularly popular travelling companion for parents going on business trips! His range of travels is wide and reflects the amazing places children visit for their holidays, he has just returned from a trip to Thailand with a Year 3 child. Over the past few years he has visited Australia, Africa, China, America, Russia and every country in Europe.

Reckless Ready to Go

Reckless the Bear is obviously very excited about his return visit to Antarctica – the ultimate challenge for any one – not just an intrepid bear!

Goodbye Reckless
