  • South Georgia is approximately 168kms (105 miles) long and 1.6 to 28.8kms (1 to 18 miles) wide
  • It is mountainous with fjords, glaciers and lakes and half of it is permanently covered by snow or ice
  • Since 1908, the United Kingdom has governed South Georgia as part of The Falklands Islands Dependencies
  • South Georgia has a lot of other wildlife, including over 2000 reindeer, birds (including albatross) and King Penguins
