About HMS Endurance
About Remembrance Day

Every year on November 11th, we pause to remember the men and women of the armed forces who have been killed during war. We remember the fallen sailors, soldiers and airmen who fought for Britain during World War 1 (1914 –1918), World War 2 (1939 – 1945), as well as those who served our country in more recent wars and conflicts, such as the Korean War, Suez, Aden, Northern Ireland, the Falklands War, the Balkans, the Gulf and Afghanistan.

Remembrance Day

It is a little known fact, that in every year, except one, since the end of the Second World War, a member of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces has been killed whilst on active service. However, during that one year a Gurka soldier was killed whilst serving with the British Army. These brave men and women sacrificed their lives and their futures so that we may live in peace.
