The Deployment Cup 2006/7

Every deployment there is a competition between the departments in HMS ENDURANCE for the Deployment Cup.

There are seven events, although more can always be added. The current holders of the Deployment Cup are the Engineers. But do they have what it takes to remain Deployment Cup Champions?

Read below the qualities behind the competitors for the 2006/7 Deployment Cup and see if you can spot who will be the 2006/7 Deployment Champions.

Warfare – Known for their ability to carry out demanding tasks as this highly skilled team has a unique whole ship’s role.

Executive – A focused and highly efficient team that forms the backbone of HMS Endurance. `All things to all men and women’.

Royal Marines – A highly skilled group that have undergone what is recognised as one of the longest and most demanding infantry training courses in the world.

Logistics – As efficient logistics support can make the difference between success and failure in the Royal Navy, this effective team know about the `art of the possible’.

Survey – Always ready to exercise their professionalism and show off their unique skill set in the name of departmental glory.

Flight – Known for their performance in the front line of operations and ability to make important tactical and operational decisions under pressure.

Engineers – Current Champions and a highly skilled team overflowing with drive, determination and `creative tenacity’ ready to support HMS Endurance 24/7

Deployment Cup 2006/7 Event 1 – Volleyball

The first event of the Deployment Cup was volleyball, and as you can imagine all the teams were fired up ready to start the deployment with a win. The weather on the day was not as good as we would expect whilst crossing the equator - we got caught up in a tropical storm. But like all good sailors we powered on and the event went ahead as planned.

The overall event was a success despite the rain, and there was some good volleyball played from all teams. However the Warfare team dominated the event and in a nail biting final they came through on top to beat the Logistic department.
