Icebergs everywhere on this beautiful morning in Hughes Bay. Clear skies and relatively light winds make for a perfect day for the flight to conduct Vertical photography. These icebergs passed the ship and were no more than about 30 metres away.

The normally dreaded passage of Bay of Biscay is turning out to be a rather pleasant transit unlike last year when we encountered a sea state 8. We currently only have a sea state 2 with a short low SW'ly swell observed as can be seen in the photo.

A CB was
observed today at 1200z. It can be seen in the image as the cloud with an anvil
shape at the top. This stands for Cumulonimbus which is a dangerous cloud for
aircraft in particular. Squalls, heavy showers, hail and thunderstorms often
accompany CBs.
